Creating digital art NFTs with the Muscular Dystrophy Association (Singapore)

Hex Trust's Singapore office is partnering with Muscular Dystrophy Association (Singapore), MDAS to participate in a series of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. MDAS is a non-profit organization that works to improve the lives of over 500 individuals impacted by muscular dystrophy and related neuromuscular conditions in Singapore.

What is muscular dystrophy?

Muscular dystrophy is a group of inherited genetic disorders that cause muscle weakness and degeneration. It can affect people of all ages, and can have a significant impact on a person's physical abilities as well as quality of life. There are several different types of muscular dystrophy, each of which is caused by a specific genetic mutation. Symptoms of muscular dystrophy can include muscle weakness, muscle wasting, and difficulty with movement and mobility. The severity of the symptoms can vary widely among individuals, ranging from mild to severe.

Treatment for muscular dystrophy typically involves a combination of therapies, including physical therapy, occupational therapy, and medications. In some cases, surgery may also be necessary to help improve mobility and function. Muscular dystrophy is a progressive condition, meaning that it tends to get worse over time. However, with proper treatment and management, it is possible for individuals living with muscular dystrophy to lead fulfilling and meaningful lives.

Hex Trust’s CSR initiative

We kick-started our CSR engagement with a digital art workshop that included 3 sessions.

The first introductory session included some fun games to help everyone get to know each other. The following two sessions were digital art workshops, where trainers taught the foundations of creating digital art to the beneficiaries. The beneficiaries then had an opportunity to create artworks according to the theme set by the trainers — The Future Of Singapore.

In addition to supporting the art talents of the beneficiaries, Hex Trust is working on tokenizing the artworks into Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs). The plan is to auction these NFTs to investors and clients of Hex Trust, with the proceeds to be donated to MDAS and the beneficiaries. This innovative approach not only enables Hex Trust to utilize its expertise in blockchain technology to give back to the community, but also to support the art talents of the beneficiaries in a unique way. Through this collaboration, we hope to explore ways to use blockchain technology in fundraising.

"It's truly heartwarming to see how we are able to support the beneficiaries in such a meaningful way," commented Karen Chan, project leader of Hex Trust’s CSR initiative. "I am very happy with the amazing artwork that the beneficiaries created, and am grateful for the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of those living with muscular dystrophy."

Hex Trust, a digital asset custodian with offices worldwide, is committed to making a positive impact in the communities in which it operates. We are grateful for the opportunity to work with MDAS and make a difference in the lives of those living with muscular dystrophy in Singapore.
